Elisabeth Gardens
Houldsworth Street North Reddish SK5 6BN
Description
The buildings form a series of spaces throughout the site with differing types of accommodation arranged around to compliment them. These aim to provide varied amenity spaces and present a journey of experiences when passing through the site. Upon entering from Houldsworth Street the main entrance road leads to an orchard square. Largely hard landscaped, the square is fronted on one side by live/work units providing active frontages. Further into the site a larger community square provides an area of green space for play and is sited in front of a community room, enabling community organised events to spill outside when weather permits. At the rear of the site a communal garden provides an area for mini allotments or flower gardens. Some private amenity space is enjoyed by all of the houses, while the courtyards also supply semi-private shared spaces to provide both an attractive courtyard setting and encourage community interaction. Within the conversion of Elisabeth Mill it is proposed to provide each apartment with a small private balcony area, while an external shared deck garden area is offered at third floor level, which includes communal bbq zones, seating areas and planting.

The submission detailed the proposals at a level commensurate with a full planning application and planning permission was granted at a planning committee meeting on 25th June 2015 subject to an agreement on the section 106 contribution.
