Description

The barren existing open spaces will be completely re-landscaped to provide a more attractive and useful range of garden squares and green links, including Mitchison Baxter Park, with its ball court and range of children's play areas. New trees and more varied planting will improve biodiversity across the estate.\r\n\r\nAll the existing homes at Dover Court already have private outdoor space, and the new homes will follow suit, with balconies and terraces to flats, and gardens or courtyards to houses -all to London Plan standards. Block H will also have a shared rear garden, designed with its future occupiers.

Planning History

Through early consultation, Pollard Thomas Edwards and Farrer Huxley Associates worked closely with the local planning authority and its Design Review Panel to agree our approach to Dover Court, which is a flagship regeneration project for the Borough. \r\n\r\nOnce the overall strategy was determined, planners were concerned to manage the potential impacts on neighbours, especially overlooking, daylight and sunlight. Working with specialist consultants, we achieved a design that the local authority fully supported.\r\n\r\nAt the detailed level, the development meets Islington's housing design requirements, which go beyond London Plan standards, including enhanced Lifetime Homes and additional ceiling height.
