Rose Lane

Rose Lane Great Chesterford Essex CB10 1PN

Description

The strategy of the landscape design was to create a series of well-defined amenity spaces enhancing street side views to and from the building. Sociability and community is encouraged with generous public street frontage providing opportunities for social interaction and the rear courtyard providing a shared social space for the residents. Front and rear private gardens are screened by communal planting. A mix of planting has been included to complement the existing nature reserve.

Planning History

The location of the site in an overwhelmingly residential area, away from the main road, served by limited car access, and not situated within an area recognised as an employment cluster, was not regarded as suitable for further B1 use. The provision of more housing, in particular social rented housing, is a key objective of the Islington Core Strategy and was regarded as the most sustainable development option for the site.
