Description

The mixed use scheme incorporates a publicly accessible fitness suite and swimming pool facility at the lower levels. This communal aspect of the development is to provide a real benefit to the local community and will be positioned in a prominent location along South Lambeth Road to provide active frontage along the main street. Above this the student accommodation will rise to 32 storeys above ground with roof terraces at fourth and thirty- first floor level providing 360 degree views over Vauxhall Park, the emerging developments around the American Embassy and towards Canary Wharf in the distance.

Planning History

Following initial discussions with the Lambeth Council Planning Department in September 2010 the design developed into the triangular shaped tower on top of a lower plinth element. Through presentations and discussions and with CABE, the GLA, English Heritage and Lambeth Council Officers, the massing was refined and tested with several facade cladding options. During the public consultation phase the overall massing but also finer details of the scheme were discussed and developed further. Planning permission was granted in January 2013.
