Description
The public realm and landscaping is central to the new neighbourhood, with a linear green at its heart, featuring open lawns and varied play spaces. A planted swale runs along its length, with steps to provide informal seating. This is also forms part of the sustainable drainage system and biodiversity strategy. Three of the buildings benefit from raised private courtyards, whilst the fourth is adjacent to the linear green. All homes have access to private balconies, terraces or gardens.
Planning History
We were commissioned to rethink an existing masterplan that was having difficulty in the planning process. Key concerns included the scale of buildings and the amount of accessible public space, which led us to a reduction in height and new landscape strategy. Phase 1 and phase 2 of the amended masterplan received planning approval in June 2012 and March 2014, respectively. Phase 3 of the scheme received planning consent in November 2015.
