55 Broadway
55 Broadway London SW1H 0BD
Description
A new landscaped court has been created to provide a separate residential entrance and give more 'breathing space' around the whole site. Pavements will be widened and street clutter removed to improve the setting of the listed building. Removal of 100 Petty France will open up views of the high level sculptures by Eric Gill and Eric Aumonier. A roof terrace at first floor level will serve a shared residents' lounge whilst existing roof terraces will serve adjacent apartments.
Planning History
The development comprises three interlinked buildings - 'Wing-Over-Station' (1924); 55 Broadway (1927) and 100 Petty France (1970s). 55 Broadway was refurbished in 1980s introducing a secure reception serving the London Transport headquarters offices above. Regular consultation was held with Westminster Council and the following stakeholders; Historic England, The Thorney Island Society, The Twentieth Century Society and other local interest groups. Planning and Listed Building Consent applications were submitted in October 2014. Planning and Listed Building consent approval achieved on 16th June 2015.
