Description
The housing is laid out in order to create a new piece of city with the focus on a public waterfront gardens. The gardens are laid out as terraces formed by the sea walls, and small 'rooms' are created with bespoke public 'seaside' furniture. From these sheltered 'rooms' the community can enjoy views over Millbay across to Cremyll, watching the activity of the marina and port with ferries leaving to France and Spain. Each home benefits from private amenity with almost homes getting some views to the water.
Planning History
Outline planning approval was granted in 2008 for a Millbay masterplan allowing for 2 million sq ft of mixed use development and approximately 1,400 homes. Plot A1 was the third plot within the masterplan to be brought forward for detailed design and construction. Detailed planning consent was achieve in 2012 on a delegated decision.
