The Echoe's

1-53 The Echoe's Seabrooke Rise Grays RM17 6FA

Description

The new dwellings have been provided with generous, usable and accessible external amenity space. Each flat has been provided with a generous balcony (or terrace for ground floor units) which is directly accessed from the living space. These balconies either face west towards the communal garden or east towards the street and the town centre. All of the balconies benefit from direct sunlight during some part of the day and help to provide animation and activation of the street and garden respectively. In addition to the private balconies and terraces the building gives on to a large attractive garden shared with existing residents in surrounding houses. This helps to ground the building in the local community.

Planning History

In December 2012 an informal meeting was held with planning officers to discuss preliminary concepts and planning constraints. A pre-application submission was submitted to planning officers in May 2013. Following this process the design was amended, notably by reducing the roof height at either end of the building and by breaking the building into three connected 'pavilions'. The detailed planning application was submitted on 16th October 2013 and granted consent on 2nd December 2013.
