City Park West Phase 1

Description

Each unit has either a private balcony or patio and one car parking place is allocated per flat. A cycle store is located on the northern boundary accommodating two cycles per flat. There are two landscape courtyard gardens and a larger south facing communal garden. A lift and external staircase provide access to the upper units and, rather than dark corridors linking the flats, a steel and timber decked walkway provides the link. This has encouraged a sense of community as it encourages interaction as residents pass each other on the walkways.

Planning History

Our client's aspirations were high quality, fully accessible predominantly two-bedroom multi-generational flats. However, the planners were concerned about the reduced number of affordable units. Through close collaboration with the Housing Department we demonstrated the lack of demand for bedsits which fell below modern space and living standards. By showing the planners completed schemes demonstrating the quality our client was looking to deliver, we were able to convince them to reach a compromise achieving 12 two-bedroom flats and 4 one-bedroom flats.
