Newbury Racecourse - The Western Site

Description

Our vision, 'LIVING IN A GARDEN”, aims to provide all dwellings with a connection to public open space, both visually and physically. We believe this will create an inclusive, social community which puts emphasis on non vehicular spaces. A sequence of green spaces assists transition through the site slowing vehicular movement with considered moments which prioritise the pedestrian. These green spaces, shared by residents, will each have a different scale and function; garden, productive and ecological.

Planning History

Designed by Countryside's internal architectural department the site is part of the Cambridge City Council Southern Fringe development area. After 3 pre-application discussions with the council Countryside submitted a full planning application which was consented at committee on 17.06.2015. With full permission granted on 08.02.2016
