Alpine Place
Honeypot Lane Queensbury London NW9 9RX
Description
A range of spaces \r\nThere is a range of public, communal and private amenity spaces (large balconies and rooftop terraces) and facilities for children of different ages, parents, people with disabilities and older people. \r\n\r\nThe scheme's central avenues celebrate and promote interaction and they are clearly defined, accessible, useable and open to all. Seating and rest areas are located across the site. \r\n\r\nA dedicated 'play space' for a range of ages, sizes, abilities and disabilities is situated to the north of the site. \r\n\r\nThe landscaping has been designed to optimise the amenity value of the communal spaces, encouraging a sense of community and engagement. \r\n\r\nPublic realm\r\nThroughout the design process improvements were made to the wider public realm, as well as the creation of a new residential frontage to Westmorland Road. By improving the highway, adding parking zones, pavements and planting more trees we've improved the local area to benefit the existing community and new residents.
Planning History
Alpine Place was developed in close collaboration with London Borough of Brent (LBB) planning department. The 12 month process involved a fluid pre-application process whereby the scheme was regularly reviewed by the Council's in-house experts in 'workshop' style forums. This was a successful use of a Planning Performance Agreement (PPA). Due to the scale of the proposal, the GLA was also consulted and given the opportunity to provide comments and feedback. The scheme was widely supported during the public consultations and achieved a unanimous approval at the eventual planning committee in November 2012. Our engagement with LBB continued throughout the course of the project as we discharged the numerous planning conditions.
